Using Microsoft Word with Website-box is the easiest way to create and import your text into your website. However before you follow the simple steps below to incorporate your text and start designing your website we assume that you have already opened up your Website-box account and that you have built a basic website. If this is not the case then you must do this first before you can begin to import text from your Word document.

To build your basic website see Using Website-box a Guide

The advantage of using Microsoft Word to format your text in a Word document is that you can format the document as you would normally do adding colour and changing fonts and sizes, put in your headings and sub headings in fact anything you want (images are imported by using Website-box direct). Once you are finished formating your documents you simply import it into Website-box and all the formatting will be saved to view on your website.

Follow these easy stages to import from your Word document.

1. Creating your text in Word
Open up a new MS Word document and type out your copy. The example we are using is for a hair salon. The copy will appear on our website's home page.

2. Formating your Copy
Format your copy exactly as you want it to be using colours and type styles. It is best to keep to the standard typfaces that are mainly used on the internet these include: Arial, Courier, Georgia, Helvetica, Times, Times New Roman and Verdana. In our example we have used Verdana normal and bold and have created a heading in bold and coloured it red and made the body text blue.

3. Save your Word file as a Web Page
When you are happy with the formating of your word document save it as a Web Page. To save your document as a Web Page go to File and on the drop down menu click Save as Web Page.

4. Viewing the Source Code
When you have saved your document as a web page you then need to view the source code. To do this go to View and on the drop down menu click on HTML Source. The source code or HTML is what turns your Word document into an Internet page.

5. Selecting your Source code
You now need to select your source code and copy it. To do this first go to File and on the drop down menu click on Select All. All the source code should now be highlighted. To copy the source code go to Edit and on the drop down menu click on Copy.

6. Log on to your Website-box account
Log on to your website-box account. Once logged on, click on the blue button called Your Content. This will open the Website-box Content management area. Click your mouse in the box called Content then go to File in your browser window and click on Paste.

The source code you copied from your Word document should now appear in the Content Box (as shown below). Now click on the Save button.

7. Refresh your Content
Once you have clicked on Save the screen will change and the text in the Content box will now appear grey. Click on Now Refresh & goto Home Page.

7. Test your Website
Finally click the blue button Test Your Site. The window will change and you will see a button Test My Site. You will also notice that you are given a temporary web address/url to view your new Website. Please make a note of this.

8. Your Website
You will see that all the formating from your Word document has been imported into your website. Remember to save all your final Word documents in one folder (Our folder is called Kurls Salon) onto your hard disk. If you need to edit your copy or add to it at a later date you can go back and use the saved original Word documents. Simply follow this process again from step one through to eight. You can repeat this process for all your web pages.
